Questions
Questions about North Carolina Special Cattle Sales: Graded Feeder and Replacement Sales
What is a graded feeder cattle sale?
A sale where state graders sort calves into uniform lots by sex, weight, frame and muscle score before they sell, so buyers can bid on uniform load lots.
What is CPH-45?
Kentucky's preconditioned calf program. Calves are weaned at least 45 days, vaccinated on a set schedule, dewormed and bunk broke before the sale. Requirements are on the CPH-45 site and vary by sale location.
How much do bred heifers sell for?
Bred heifer and replacement cow prices are per head, and each sale's USDA report lists them by age, breed and stage of pregnancy. Open a sale above for its last results, or see bred cow prices.
Are bull sales listed?
No. This site lists the sales USDA Market News reports on, and it does not report production bull sales, which breeders and breed associations run.
How do I consign calves to a special sale?
Call the barn. Most graded and preconditioned sales need calves weaned and vaccinated on a schedule, and set a consignment deadline a week or more ahead.
