Summary
USDA's Missouri summary, week of Oct 19, 2026
Compared to last week, feeders sold steady to 5.00 higher. Lighter weight calves under 500 lbs. and heavier weight yearlings found good demand this week and saw the most strength. Mid-weights from 550-800 lbs. were uneven with some selling just a few dollars on both sides of steady especially early in the week. The supply of feeders was moderate, weaning and health management continues to be a big factor and calves with more risk continue to see discounts. Demand for light-weight wheat grazers heading to OK and KS was very good as wheat conditions look good following some recent moisture. The monthly Cattle on Feed Report was released on Friday afternoon and was extremely bullish. Placements were reported at a record low for the month of Sep. and below all expectations at 87.9 percent of year ago levels. Marketings were reported at 93.4 percent and On Feed numbers at 99.6 percent. A few stick-out sales this week included: 21 head of 346 lb. steers at Windsor Livestock Auction that sold for 605.00 and 54 head of 442 lb. steers sold for 560.00. Joplin Regional Stockyards sold 27 head of 452 lb. steers for 520.00, 22 head of 540 lb. steers for 445.00, and 37 head of 837 lb. steers for 344.50. Wheeler Livestock Auction sold 20 head of 575 lb. steers for 430.00. Eastern Missouri Commission Company sold 20 head of 705 lb. steers late in the week at 391.00. Tina Livestock Market sold 53 head of 779 lb. steers for 367.25 and 63 head of 921 lb. steers for 333.85. Ozarks Regional Stockyards sold 28 head of 618 lb. steers for 387.50. Wheeler Livestock Auction sold 21 head of 511 lb. heifers for 398.00. Kingsville Livestock Auction sold 72 head of 718 lb. heifers for 366.00. Boxed beef cut-out values were lower for the week. Choice closed at 365.79, down 6.52, and Select closed at 352.69, down 0.36 compared to last week. The choice/select spread is 13.10 per cwt. Negotiated feedlot sales as of the 2:00 cutoff time on Friday were reported to be just less than 2K head, as packers and feedlot managers were in a standoff all week. A few sales in the north reported at 226.00 live and 355.00 dressed. Prices in the southern plains were not reported due to confidentially rules within mandatory price reporting although private sources showed some at 230.00. Rumors of higher trade taking place after 2:00 but those numbers won't be known until later on Monday. The Missouri Stocker formula consists of 4046 head with a weighted average weight of 546.69 lbs. and a price value of 406.58, 2.56 lower than last week. The steer/heifer is 38.05 per cwt.
