Compared to last week, feeder cattle receipts were significantly higher as the fall run got underway. Lightweight calves were in strong demand, with 300- to 500-pound steers and heifers selling $5.00 to $10.00 higher. Feeder bulls weighing under 500 pounds sold $20.00 higher, while feeder bulls and heifers over 500 pounds sold mostly steady. Feeder steers over 500 pounds were not well tested due to limited receipts last week. Slaughter cattle sold steady to $5.00 lower, with the exception of high-yielding bulls, which met strong demand. Overall quality on feeders was good, with a mixed offering of weaned and unweaned calves.
